Website moved to a new server

We moved the website from GoDaddy to DreamHost. That move will help us to serve better our visitors since everything will be faster. Dreamhost is using SSD in all its packages, shared hosting, VPS and deticated servers. We chose VPS for our needs and there is option to either add resources or upgrade (almost) without any downtime. In addition we’ve added a SSL certificate to encrypt the communication between the browser and the server. There are more steps for this one since we are planning to force all traffic to be encrypted and go through https for better security and privacy. Once the upgrade is finished, we will start posting more frequently since we couldn’t post during the upgrade. Lastly, we are planning a new release for Ultra PDF Merger to support bookmarks.

Edge Path Setter – Microsoft Edge default download path changer

Edge Path Changer Logo

Edge Path Setter is a free and open source application that does one simple thing, it helps you set the default download path of Microsoft Edge web browser. There are many articles in the internet how to change it messing with the registry. This application gives you a nice user interface and helps you to not mess anything in the registry and cause other problems. It is also faster and more user friendly.

Ultra Grayscale Converter

Ultra Grayscale Converter

A friend of mine started photography as a hobby and there were several occasions where he wanted to convert an image to grayscale. It looks that this process was taking him a long time, usually because results were not satisfactory and he was trying several algorithms and tweaks. We were discussing about it and he told me that it would be nice if he had an application to convert his images to grayscale using several algorithms at once and choose the one he prefers. This is exactly what Ultra Grayscale Converter is doing, it converts the image of your choice using 8 different algorithms, present all of the results with the original image in the center for fast comparison and saves your selection into the format you prefer.

Theme changed

After few recommendations, theme is finally changed to a child theme of Spacious. It is very light and responsive which makes it ideal for mobile devices. Also, I have decided to go with a dark theme this time. Slider with the applications is removed but I will add them as links to the sidebar by the end of the day. Website is tested also by Google bots and they found it mobile friendly. If you have any comments on how it can be improved let me know. Enjoy the refreshed website.

New theme wanted

The story goes like this, every couple of years I am getting tired of watching the same theme and I change it. This time I am looking for a new, lite and responsive theme. Please leave a comment with your recommendation and I will choose one of those to be the next theme of this website for the next 1-2 years. Previous time you were very helpful and I hope you will be again. Thank you in advance, the change will happen this weekend so hurry up!

Website statistics

Analytics is something you can see on a variety of websites but from time to time I get an email asking about the visitors of the site. In order to avoid some of them and make publicly available for everyone the origin of the visitors, I created a table from Google analytics. This table contains the countries and the percentage of the visitors from each of them for the last 30 days. The numbers change almost every month, few months ago France and Italy were higher in the list. I will post updates once per year in order to have somewhere historically the statistics.

Box Keeper

Box Keeper Icon

Box Keeper is a very popular and addictive puzzle game. It is a Sokoban implementation in C# for Windows. The player can push the boxes and he should move them to specific locations. Sokoban was created in 1981 by Hiroyuki Imabayashi and since then it is implemented in a plethora of platforms including computers, video game consoles and digital cameras. Solving the levels is challenging but the real challenge is to solve them with the minimum number of moves. Box Keeper v1.0 contains the original 50 levels and their difficulty increases almost based on their order. Theoretically, there is an unlimited undo and redo functionality in Box Keeper to help you save time.

BubblePop

BubblePop

BubblePop is a fun and addictive bubble pop game to entertain children and at the same time make them smarter. It is a clone of BubbleBurst with added options and colors to help (red-green) colorblind people to distinguish the bubbles. As I watch people playing, I noticed that at first they just click the bubbles but of course unless they are very lucky they fail. The second time they do the same but they are more careful. After few times they create a plan to finish the game successfully. It is not chess but it is a good and funny way to make you think before you act.

A month without internet

I was without internet access for a month. This is one of the most annoying things in our days. This is the reason I didn’t post for that long period of time. I believe that from now on I will post frequently. I have changed job and I have moved to another city but the website is the same and according to Google Analytics you didn’t stop visiting my blog. I have a lot to do now that I have internet at home so be a little more patient. During my no-internet period there were several interesting news I wanted to share with you but now everything is old news. I hope that will never happen again.
